The local community has provided strong guidance and input into the development of The Waterfront at Albany.

Planning documents for the project were developed in consultation with community reference groups which included a variety of stakeholders so the new waterfront development meets the needs of all users, now and into the future.

For the wider community a number of public forums and public consultation periods have been held, and submissions received during this process were taken into account by the City of Albany when approving both the structure plan and the precinct plan for the development.

The City of Albany approved the concept plan in June 2005, the structure plan in May 2006 and the precinct plan and design guidelines in September 2006.
