About the AMC

The Australian Marine Complex (AMC) is a world-class centre for excellence for manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, maintenance and technology development, servicing the marine, defence, oil and gas, and resource industries.

Located in Western Australia, 23 kilometres south of Perth, the AMC has been developed to enhance the opportunities created by the clustering of industries and is home to the largest marine industry in Australia.

The AMC has established international credentials for the repair, maintenance and construction of naval and commercial vessels, as well as infrastructure for the fabrication and assembly of offshore oil and gas modules.

More than
100 businesses are located within the AMC which is made up of four main precincts:

 Shipbuilding
• Technology
• Support Industry
• Fabrication

Situated within these precincts, the AMC also provides world-class multi-user facilities including:

• Common User Facility (CUF)
• Central Services Facility
• ACEPT Training Facility
• Marine Support Facility

Celebrating five years at the forefront of industry

July 2008 marks five years since operations began at the AMC Common User Facility (CUF).
An initiative of the Western Australian Government, the CUF is open to all users and facilitates access to world class infrastructure capabilities and flexible leasing opportunities required to complete major fabrication, assembly, service and transport projects.

Outstanding record
The facilities available at the CUF have enable companies to secure and deliver fabrication and assembly projects for large infrastructure modules used in mining and oil and gas projects locally and internationally.

The CUF has established an outstanding record for project delivery and is recognised as a centre of excellence for shipbuilding and repair and maintenance work for commercial and Royal Australian Navy vessels.

Beyond expectations
Since opening in 2003 the facility has surpassed all expectations generating in excess of $233million for the local economy and created more than 3,500 jobs from some 200 contracts undertaken.

Still growing
The WA Government has committed a further $174million to infrastructure upgrades at the Common User Facility including construction of a 99m x 53m floating dock and a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) to transfer vessels, including Collins Class submarines, and other heavy modules between land and water.

The anniversary of the CUF is just one of many exciting developments at the AMC. The complex continues to expand and increase the services and opportunities available to businesses within the marine, defence, mining and oil and gas sector.
