A master plan study carried out in March 2000 identified the need for a new road link between the Kwinana Freeway and Rockingham City Centre. This involves extending Mundijong Road about 5km from the Kwinana Freeway to connect to Dixon Road. The RKDO is actively progressing this project.
This important regional road will serve as both a direct commuter link to the City Centre and as a strategic freight route to the Rockingham Industrial Zone and Kwinana industrial area. Studies indicate there will be a beneficial reduction in traffic on parallel local access roads, economic benefits due to a decrease in trip length and travel times as well as important road safety benefits.
Current Status
Design work is underway. The RKDO is considering funding options.
