The RKDO has been involved in structure planning for the Rockingham Kwinana District Hospital site in response to the Health Reform Committee objectives to provide a wider range of medical services to the Rockingham Kwinana area.
Stage 1 of the hospital expansion will result in an increase in capacity from about 80 beds to 240. There will be improved capacity in such areas as
• Emergency department;
• Palliative care;
• General surgery;
• Rehabilitation;
• Mental health; and
• High dependency unit.
The estimated cost of the development is just over $100 million.
